WHOOP Journal: Mental Health Survey Feature

November 2022 will be the final month with a mental health survey. This beta feature will no longer be included in the MPA starting January 1st, 2023.

What is the mental health feature?

The mental health feature is a short monthly survey that provides you with a mental health analysis showing the relationship between your mental health, recovery, and behaviors logged in the WHOOP Journal

The survey, created in conjunction with PhD Sonja Lyubomirsky and Dr. William von Hippel, utilizes validated scientific questions (like the PHQ-9, PSS, GAD-2, and BMPN) used by medical professionals.

Responses will be kept secure and confidential in accordance with the WHOOP Privacy Policy.

Accessing the survey

The survey is accessible through the Journal as a banner at the end of every month. If you forget to fill it out, we will send an in-app notification reminder!

Viewing your mental health analysis

After completing your monthly mental health survey, you’ll unlock a mental health analysis in your next Monthly Performance Assessment (MPA) on the 1st of the month.

Learn more about Monthly Performance Assessments.

For example, if you take your first survey in May, you will receive your MPA with mental health analysis on June 1st. If you do not complete a survey, the mental health data portion of the MPA will be grayed out.

Note: The MPA you receive on the 1st of every month includes insights from the previous month, so the MPA sent on June 1st includes your May analysis.

To view your mental health analysis in the MPA:

  1. Open the WHOOP app and navigate to the coaching  coaching_tab.png  tab
  2. Select Monthly at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Scroll down to the Mental Health section of your MPA.

How many surveys do I need to complete to receive an analysis?

Only 1 survey completion is required. For example, if you complete a mental health survey in May, you will see analysis for that survey in your MPA June 1st.

In the past, we did require 3 completed surveys in order to access the analysis, but changed this requirement in order to make the feature more accessible.
