WHOOP 3.0 and 4.0: How to Update Your Product's Firmware

When a firmware update becomes available, you will be prompted with a pop-up box in the WHOOP app. If you do not wish to update at that time, you can close the window and the app will prompt you again in 24 hours.

Follow the instructions below to check for available firmware updates at any time:

  1. Inside the WHOOP app, open Device Settings by either clicking the status bar at the bottom of the Overview page (located underneath the Health Monitor overview) or by clicking on the menu in the bottom right of the navbar.

If an update is available, a Firmware Update Available button will be displayed at the bottom of the Device Settings screen. Tap it to begin the update and keep your WHOOP and mobile device close by while updating - it may take several minutes.

  1. In Device Settings, select on the Advanced tab.
  2. Locate the Firmware Check button and select it.
  3. If a firmware update is available, select Update Now when prompted.

Note:

A firmware update may take up to 10 minutes to complete. During this time, please ensure that your WHOOP stays close to your mobile device (within about 10 feet). We recommend ensuring that your WHOOP has at least 20% battery life before starting a firmware update.

If a firmware update fails

If a firmware update fails, the WHOOP may disconnect from the app for up to 2 minutes while it reboots. If this occurs, the WHOOP will automatically reconnect to the app within 2 minutes.

Follow the steps below before trying to update again:

  • Ensure your WHOOP data is up to date (see Why is my WHOOP "Catching Up"? for more).
  • Take your WHOOP off and place it next to your mobile device while updating.
  • Make sure you have a strong cellular or WiFi network connection before initiating the update.
