How do I connect WHOOP Strap 3.0 to another device using Heart Rate Broadcast?

WHOOP Strap 3.0 allows you to broadcast your Heart Rate on devices that are Bluetooth Low Energy Heart Rate Profile compatible.  To do this, from the WHOOP app, tap the menu, tap “Strap Settings”, and make sure HR Broadcast is toggled to on.

Use your phone to turn on the Heart Rate Broadcast (from the WHOOP app: Menu --> Strap Settings --> HR Broadcast On).  The WHOOP Strap will then emit your heart rate over the BLE Heart Rate Service and be able to connect to a receiving device.  Once you connect on the receiving device to your WHOOP Strap 3.0, you no longer need to be near your phone to keep it in that state because heart rate is broadcasting from the WHOOP strap 3.0 itself.  Once you are finished with the broadcast, remember to toggle the Heart Rate Broadcast switch in the WHOOP App to off, while your phone is connected and near your WHOOP Strap, if you wish for your Heart Rate to stop being publically broadcast.

Please note that this is a "real-time" stream of heart rates with no backfilling capabilities.  If you move out of Bluetooth Range of the receiving device or have other Bluetooth issues, you may be missing some data on the receiving device.  This will not affect the data stream on your WHOOP account which will fill in any missing data.

There are a myriad number of devices and apps that implement the BLE Heart Rate Profile.  We have tested many internally and have written instructions found below for these devices.  Most pairing processes will be similar.

Note: Most modern devices support BLE Heart Rate Profile.  However, there are a number of fitness devices that only support the ANT+ protocol.  At the current time, the WHOOP Strap 3.0 does not broadcast an ANT+ compatible signal and will not be able to pair with these devices.
