Frequent Android Disconnects

 

Data lag and intermittent connectivity issues are caused in part by the Android system settings on your phone. For any device you are using, please begin by making sure Airplane mode is toggled OFF and your Bluetooth is ON

If you are having issues keeping your Strap connected to your mobile device, check out the steps below based upon the manufacturer of your device.

 

LG

There are four distinct settings a user can change to improve issues around data lag:

  1. Battery Saver - set to disabled
  2. Adaptive Battery - set to disabled
  3. Background Restrictions - set to disabled (i.e. the WHOOP app shouldn't have background restrictions)
  4. Power Saving Exclusions - set to enabled (i.e. the WHOOP app should be excluded from power-saving operations)

OnePlus

There are five distinct settings a user can change to improve issues around data lag:

  1. Battery Saver - Try disabling this if it is enabled
  2. Advanced / Deep optimization - Try disabling this if it is enabled
  3. Advanced / Sleep standby optimization - Try disabling this if it is enabled
  4. Battery Optimization - In the WHOOP app settings, select 'Don't optimize'
  5. Background Restriction - Try removing this restriction if it is enabled

Samsung

There are three settings a user can change to improve issues around data lag:

  1. In the WHOOP application settings, enable 'Allow background data usage' and 'Allow app while Data saver on'
  2. In the 'Optimize battery usage' system settings, disable the WHOOP app.
  3. For Android 9 or 10 > Go to Device Settings > Click Device Care > Select Battery > Then App power management > Select “Apps that won’t be put to sleep” (see AppsThatWontSleep.jpg) > Search for Whoop app and add it there (see below)

Google Pixel & Motorola

There are three settings a user can change to improve issues around data lag:

  1. In the system settings under 'Battery optimization', select the WHOOP app, then select 'Don't optimize'
  2. In the WHOOP app settings, enable 'Background data' and 'Unrestricted data usage'
  3. In the system settings under 'Battery Saver', disable 'Turn on automatically' and select 'Turn off now'

Huawei

There are 6 settings a user can change to improve issues around data lag for the Huawei: 

  1. In the system settings under 'Battery', select the 'Power saving mode' off, 'Ultra power saving mode' off
  2. In the system settings under 'Battery', select, 'More Battery Settings' and allow the device to stay connected when the device sleeps
  3. In the system settings under 'Apps' > WHOOP > 'Power usage details" > 'App launch' > toggle all on
  4. In the system settings under 'Apps' > WHOOP > 'Data usage' > enable 'Mobile data', 'Wi-fi', and 'Background data'
  5. In the system settings under 'Data saver', toggle the WHOOP app on to allow unrestricted data access when data saver mode is on
  6. In the system settings under 'Wireless & Networks' > 'Data usage' > 'Smart data saver' off
