Putting the WHOOP Strap into Pairing Mode

If the WHOOP Strap does not automatically reconnect to your device or you are pairing to a new device for the first time, you may need to activate "Pairing Mode."

What Pairing Mode Looks Like

To check if your Strap is in pairing mode, you can reference the LEDs on the side of the WHOOP Strap.

The Strap is in pairing mode when one single white LED strobes back and forth between 3 positions as shown below.

Note: a single, stationary blinking white LED is not pairing mode (this represents the battery life of your Strap).

*Generally, pairing mode will last up to 2 minutes or until the Strap has been paired.

Activating Pairing Mode

After making sure your WHOOP Strap is charged,

1. Remove the Strap from your wrist

2. Place the Strap in off-wrist mode. To do so, simply wait until the green sensor LEDs on the underside of the Strap turn off. These green sensor LEDs need to remain off in order to activate pairing mode.

3. Hold the sensor by the sides with your thumb and index finger, making sure not to touch the sensor area on the underside of the Strap (touching this area will re-activate on-wrist mode).

4. Firmly apply a series of continuous double taps (like a heartbeat) to the top of the WHOOP Strap. Continue to tap firmly and repeatedly in order to place the Strap into pairing mode.

*Note: While you’re tapping the Strap, the battery level indicator lights will display or you may see a combination of red and white flashing lights on the side. That’s OK - continue to tap until you get into pairing mode. This may take 15-20 seconds. The Strap will remain in pairing mode until the strap is successfully paired or for 3 minutes, after which the light sequence will stop, and you will need to re-initiate pairing mode if you are still unable to connect.
