The WHOOP Journal provides the ability to track various lifestyle choices, medication usage, supplements, and more on a daily basis. Over time the WHOOP system will provide analysis as to how these various behaviors impact your WHOOP data.

For example, if you wear Blue-light Blocking Glasses, this feature will help you understand to the degree it improves your sleep quality.

Where can I find the feature?

The Journal will appear automatically once a Sleep has been processed. Additionally, you can review and edit previous answers by selecting the Journal button from the Overview screen.

How can I customize the Journal?

You can choose from a wide variety of behaviors by selecting the 'Customize Journal' button, found in the top-right corner of the Journal. After adding or removing various behaviors, close the Customize Journal pane and the Journal will reset itself with the list of selected behaviors.

How do I complete a Journal entry?

For each behavior you've chosen, a card will appear asking you if you participated in the behavior from the previous day. Swipe right for "Yes" and left for "No". Additionally, you can select the "Yes" and "No" links within the bottom part of each card to log an answer.

What do the numbers mean below

The numbers beneath each card represents the number of times you've answered "Yes" and "No" within the previous 90 days. Over time you can get a sense of how frequent or infrequent you engage within a particular behavior.

Can I edit a Journal?

You can edit any Journal entry within the previous 7 days by selecting the Journal button from the Overview screen and then the 'Edit' (pencil) icon. Once you select 'Save' at the end of the Journal, the new answers will be saved.

Where can I find the analysis?

The Monthly Performance Assessment, delivered on the 3rd of each month, will provide the latest analysis as to how each tracked behavior impacts various Recovery and Sleep metrics. In order for the analysis to be comprehensive, a sufficient amount of data is required - keep logging data each day to make your analysis as thorough as possible!

Is my data used beyond the analysis provided by my Monthly Performance Assessment?

WHOOP does not monetize the personal information of its members.

WHOOP may use the data it collects and the answers from Journal entries as a de-identified or aggregate data set. This means WHOOP will format and use data in ways that cannot be traced back to specific individuals. This anonymized data can be used to improve algorithms and drive more interesting and complex insights for members (i.e. the correlation between WHOOP data, stress, and illness)
